Weekly News Letter 9th January 2009

Ocean Diver Lecture

Theory OT6 - "What Happens If…" - is on Monday the 12th of January at 8:15pm. The lecture will be at David Hunter-Wade's flat. Please contact Tom on 07956 178989 asap to confirm attendance.

Sports Divers

The next Sports Diver pool session will be on Monday at 8.30 - 9.30. Please be try to arrive at 8.15 to be changed on ready by 8:30. Please contact Rita by the end of Saturday to confirm your attendance or we cannot guarantee an instructor.

HSAC Christmas do

The date has been set for February the 6th. Details have not been finalised in time for this newsletter but will be announced next week. Keep the date free and get your dancing shoes ready!

Open Water Training Days

If you want to complete a qualification for the 2009 dive season - you'll have to book on training days. Training days have been scheduled on the 2nd and 3rd, 30th and 31st of May. To book, you'll need £20 deposit per day. Get your cheques to Rita as soon as possible. You're only booked on once she has your cheque. Cheques should be made payable to HSAC and dated for the day that you want to train on. We only have a limited amount of instructors so, as usual, all places will be taken on a first come, first served basis.

Please note - if you've booked on any dives (or want to) that your place is not confirmed until Anne has a deposit cheque from you.

Dive Fest 2009 - 15-17 May

We've mentioned Dive Fest a few times in the newsletter, and now we're ready to start taking deposits. The festival runs from 15-17 May at Pentewan Sands Holiday Park in Cornwall. There will be loads to do, including 2 days of diving (wrecks, reefs and walls - http://www.divefest.co.uk/index/pages/name/1), live music, a buddy auction (dive with Monty Halls!), underwater image festival, scuba films, games for the kids (and big kids), a treasure hunt on certain dive sites and more. If you'd like to join the group, contact Evan on evan.king@gmail.com. We'll need a deposit cheque of £85 which includes the ticket and 2 days diving. There will be another £40 due for the dives at the event.

We'll work out accommodation once we have some idea of attendance - but the options run from £14 for camping to £75 for a 4 bed chalet for the weekend.
