AGM Summary
The AGM was well attended - thanks to everyone who took the time to attend. A new committee was elected. A BIG BIG thanks to all outgoing members - especially those who've spent many years on the committee (you know who you are :-) ).

AGM
The HSAC AGM is taking place on Monday the 27th at 8pm at 18 Victoria Park Square.
The HSAC Committee will report back to you on how the year has gone in our club. Additionally, a new HSAC Committee will be voted in by the members so it is important that you all attend and have your say in how the club is run.
There will be no lectures or pool sessions.
Tenerife dive trip
Rob reports that the "Tenerife dive trip was fab!" ...
I promise I'm not jealous guys! (grrrrr) We want pictures!

Lecture 7 will be given by Evan at York Hall in the Creche, on Monday the 20th of April at 7.30pm. The lecture will be followed by a pool session. Please ensure you arrive promptly, or else the lecture over-runs and we loose out on time in the pool.
Equipment for training weekend
Could anyone who wants to hire equipment from HSAC for the training weekend please collect it on Monday the 20th of April, as the pool is closed on 27 April due to the AGM.
To repeat - Monday the 20th is your last chance to collect kit!
Skills for training weekend
If you're going to Stoney and need to finish off / practise any skills in the pool beforehand - Monday the 20th is your last chance to do so - so please be poolside and kitted up quickly.

Ocean Diver Lecture
Lecture 6 will be given by Tom at York Hall in the Creche, on Monday the 6th of March at 7.30pm. The lecture will be followed by a pool session. Please ensure you arrive promptly, or else the lecture over-runs and we loose out on time in the pool.
AGM membership reminder
Anyone who wishes to vote or stand for posts at the AGM will have to be a paid member, therefore anyone whose membership has lapsed must join up either on the 6th or 20th. (The 13th is a bank holiday).
Open Water Training Weekends
If you want to complete a qualification for the 2009 dive season - you'll have to book on training days. This may be your last chance to book onto one of the two May Open Water training weekends. Deposit cheques for £20 per day to Rita ASAP (by post if you're not coming to the club) as spaces are limited. Dates are 2nd/3rd May and 30th/31st May(Sat/Sun).
Rob is booking accommodation for the first weekend (Saturday night only unless you want more) on a first-come-first-served basis. Payment of £25 (non-refundable) will secure a place - only 7 spaces available.
The Beat 29th May
The Beat will be playing in Brixton at Hootananny on the 29th of May. This a a really great, intimate venue. Tickets will be under a tenner, let me or Rob know if you're interested in joining us!

HSAC AGM - 27th April 2009

The AGM brings with the selection of a new committee. We're looking for members who could volunteer to fill a position. As a new committee member I can say it's great to be more closely involved in the workings of the club. Lookout for full details in a special AGM newsletter.

Tragedy @ Islington Academy
Our most recent social was at the Islington Academy last night - where we saw Tragedy - the metal Bee Gees tribute band. I'd say the highlight was "you should be dancing", as well as all of the balloons and glitter! We all had a great time - here we are in the aftermath:

Octopush was fun!
Forgot to mention Octopush in last week's newsletter! It was on the 9th and was great fun, just as competitive as ever - it was the closest game we've had in a while! If only we could get the goals to stay in one place....

Octopush
This Monday we're having one of our famous Octopush sessions. The game starts in the pool at 8:30pm, so arrive a bit earlier to change and get ready. All you'll need is fins, a mask and gloves if you have them. It's great fun for all so come along!

Dive Fest 2009 - 15-17 May
The festival runs from 15-17 May at Pentewan Sands Holiday Park in Cornwall. There will be loads to do, including 2 days of diving (wrecks, reefs and walls - http://www.divefest.co.uk/index/pages/name/1). Check out the website http://www.divefest.co.uk/
We'll need a deposit cheque of £85 which includes the ticket and 2 days diving. We only have two diving places left.

Membership renewal
It's that "membership renewal" time of year. Anyone who has "rejoined" HSAC in the last nine months or so will need to renew their membership of BSAC and HSAC in March. I will be in the Approach from 9:30 on March 2nd and March 16th to try and sign everyone up. There's a lot of people to get signed up so please try and make it easy by bringing cheques and a pen.
