We had a successful dive in Poole despite some bad weather we had a great time diving an old wreck full of congers and lunching on very fresh fish. Mr forgetful award to the unnamed diver who managed to do a giant stride entry without his fins on.
Congratulations!
Congratulations to Darren for qualifying as an Ocean Diver.
Missing Equipment
Rob is missing a small yellow and black Macmahon reel that he lent out, believed at Stoney Cove at the beginning of May. Can you please return it if you have it. Please remember it is important to return all borrowed kit, in good condition, ASAP.

The BBQ - which was scheduled for the 21st of August, has been cancelled for this year so as not to clash with any dive trips.

A bunch of us did it a few weeks back and there's loads of sea life to look at, not very deep, close to shore and apart from getting there it would be free! I'll organise a day trip if there's enough interest. OR Swanage - further away but again a brilliant pier and a lovely shallow wreck called the Fleur de Lis teeming with fish OR Eastbourne which you can often join as a pair without booking the whole boat.

New Sports Divers!
Congrats to Will and Clyde on passing their Sports Diver last weekend.
Farnes Trip
Well done to Rob for organising a fantastic trip out to the Farnes -- friendly seals, a great wreck, good weather, good beer and good company. The weekend could not have been better.
New Oceans and Sports diver courses
New Ocean and Sports diver courses are about to start so contact Jo if you want to sign up for them. In particular if you've very nearly finished your Ocean Diver course you might want to start attending Sport Diver lectures anyway. (And if you haven't yet passed the Sport Diver exam then you might want to re attend to refresh your memory).
Email Jo so that she can get an idea of numbers.
Open Water Training Weekend
The next open water training weekend is planned for 15/16 august. Please email Jo if you are interested.
Twitter!
Okay - I know many of you are groaning right now - but if you ARE a twitter fan - you'll be pleased to know that the website is now pulling in all tweets with the keyword #hsacdive onto the front page. Take a look - there is a pretty active discussion about a wreck in the Farnes.
Next years dives in France
Anne is planning a Normandy trip next year. The options are either a two day trip with a night in France or a six day trip joining the boat in France which sounds fab! see below
Joining the boat in France: Courceulles, Port en Bessin, St Vaast la Hogue, or Cherbourgh:
6 Day Diving Holidays, Diving the D Day wrecks of France in the Baie De Seine. All trips are based on 10 divers for space & comfort - £395 per person (plus accommodation & food)
Anne needs to know if there is enough interest to book this as a long diving trip - think of the gastronomic experience as well as the historic diving. Most wrecks are about 30 m so for sports and above. Last month the diver mag had a feature on these wrecks. Please email Anne.
Weekly News Letter - 5th June 2009
Final Ocean Diver Lecture
The final Ocean Diver lecture will be held on Monday the 18th - this will not be rerun until the next Ocean Diver course. Please confirm with Jo that you can attend.
Cylinders
Those who have loaned club cylinders, please return them as soon as possible. These cylinders are needed for pool sessions and are vital for all our dive trips, as many members do not have their own. Please return them on Monday, full of air (it reduces your rental fee!).
Weekly News Letter - 29th May 2009
Ocean Diver Lecture
Your final lecture will be at York Hall in the Creche on Monday the 1st of June at 19:30. The lecture, "Enjoying Your Diving", will be given by Richard. Please text Joanna to confirm your attendance.
Sports Diver Exams
Tom will be sitting his Sports Diver exam on Monday - if you would like to do the same, please text Joanna.
Training weekend
Please could those of you attending the training this weekend bring back cylinders on Monday so those going to the Farnes can pick them up. Hope it goes well - the weather is looking good!
New mailing list - Chat
There has been some discussion about the amount of 'noise' on the news mailing list. Some of you want to be involved in all the discussions within the club, and others only want the newsletters.
To the end, I've created a new mailing list called Chat. This list will be for anyone to post to about anything diving or club related. From now on the News mailing list will be reserved for the Newsletter and special notices.
It would be great to have a chatty, useful list, so if you'd like to take part in these discussions, please subscribe at the link below.
http://hackneydiving.org/mailman/listinfo/chat_hackneydiving.org
I've taken the liberty of adding everyone on the instructors and committee mailing lists, please use the above link if you would like to unsubscribe.

Weekly News Letter - 12th May 2009
Air fill money
Ah yes, filthy lucre. It is however vital when it comes to keeping our cylinders filled with air (never mind the time that people give up to fill them).
So please make sure you pay your £3 when you use a club cylinder in the pool. Very soon you'll be asked to pay when you take the cylinder from the storeroom, but until then, please make an effort to pay for the fill.
Equipment hire
On a similar note - please make sure you pay for any club equipment you use for dive trips or training days. It's easy to assume that it's being accounted for by someone else, but as you know, everyone in the club is busy and Monday nights are very hectic. It's important to note that this money goes straight back into maintenance and buying new equipment.
So if you are using or have used club equipment for a trip, please discuss paying for the rental with Will, Liz or Ian. If they are not around, speak to any committee member you can find. Details on fees can be found at the bottom of this page : http://www.hackneydiving.org/training

ScubaText
We're about to try a free text services to notify club members of training, dive updates etc. We will do our best to avoid "spam" by only sending messages relevant to you; about dives, training or courses that you are attending (for example about when your next lecture is or weather updates and schedule changes for dives).
We will not send messages to the entire club with this service - the newsletter will continue to serve that purpose. We will also not send messages
If you would like to review the service - visit www.scubatext.co.uk
If you have any questions, concerns, or would like to be excluded from the service, please drop me an email.
You should receive an invite in your phone in 10 days, if you do not wish to use the service, just ignore it or let me know before then.
