Good news from Rob and Rita
Rita and Rob have recently adopted a 1-year old boy called Mikhail. They have had him at home from the beginning of the month and things are going well. Best wishes from all of us at the club!
35th Anniversary and Christmas party
The Club has quite a milestone coming up - our 35th anniversary! As it's happening in December, we're going to combine it with our pre-christmas get together.
It will be in an east-end pub on Friday the 11th of December. The venue will be announced in next week's newsletter.
35th Anniversary Material?
As part of our Anniversary celebration, we're going to set up a display/slideshow. If you have any old photos, newspaper articles or other interesting info about the club’s members, trips etc. in the past; it would be very helpful if we could make copies for the display. Please contact Evan or Caron if you have anything that might help.
Quarterly General Meeting
Our next Quarterly general meeting will be on November the 30th in the Approach after the pool session. This is a chance to speak to the committee and hear what's been happening and what's coming up. I would be great to see you there.

Thanks from Richard
Richard would like to thank everyone who sponsored him. He finished 3,156 out of 10,006 timed finishers in a time of 1:51:40. £665 was raised for the British Heart Foundation.
News From Iain
Iain's finished his instructor course and exams and is now officially a PADI scuba instructor! He's just waiting for the paperwork and his teaching status to come through and will be let loose on the world. As he's already completed various of the BSAC Instructor modules, he should get an automatic cross over to BSAC Instructor when he gets back and says he'll be even more bossy and annoying! At the moment he should be in Bangkok. He says hello to all and sends his best wishes.
Leaving the pool on time
If we are slow to leave the pool, it inconveniences the staff as they have to leave later when this happens. A reminder of times:
8.15pm kit up to be in pool for 8.30pm
9.30pm must be out of pool and leave the building by 9.45pm
Weekly News Letter - 9th October 2009
No pool session this week
No pool session this Monday (12th).
Swanage
The dive weekend in Swanage was great fun. Good to see some different faces out on a club dive. Some gentle pottering around the peer (which was teeming with life) was followed by a nice (if low viz) wreck dive on the Fleur de Lys.
Congratulations to our newest Ocean Divers, Alex and Lily. Well done guys. Hope to see you on a few more trips now.
Mickey's lecture
Safety talk by Mickey G at 8pm at 18 Victoria Park Square (Will's office where we have the AGM)

Swanage
Everyone diving in Swanage needs to bring the club kit back to the pool on Monday. There is a fine for late returns.
DIVE magazines
Richard is still looking for people to give him old copies of the BSAC magazine to use to advertise the club.
Micky's Lecture
On the 12th of October, Micky Gee will be giving and informal lecture and discussion about safe diving, knowing your limits and deeper diving techniques.
This will be a great opportunity to learn from one of our club's most experienced (and humorous!) divers.
Mat's Show
Mat's painting show opened on Thursday. 11 Mare st in the 'Shop of Horrors'.
The themes of the paintings are largely derived from the stuff he sees when he is diving. Everyone is welcome! Earlier shows were great so I can recommend it!
